About the author:
In 1995, M. Laetitia Cairoli spent a year in Fes, Morocco, conducting ethnographic research on the lives of girls working in clothing factories. She has published articles on the data in several journals and edited collections. She completed her degrees in Anthropology at New York University and Columbia University. Before embarking on her doctoral research on factory workers, the author lived and worked in Morocco for several years, first as a Peace Corps Volunteer, teaching English, and later as a researcher studying women’s organizations there. Currently, Dr. Cairoli teaches anthropology at several colleges in New Jersey.
